1 Samuel 19 :20 is the first time the School of the Prophets is mentioned  in the Bible. Prophets were acknowledged and valued by Old and New Testament Kings and Priests as well as New Testament disciples. In Revelation 19:10 we're told that the Spirit of prophesy is the testimony of Jesus! In other words, prophesy is delivered by the Spirit (in us) to speak on Jesus' behalf to others, today!. No wonder Paul, in 1 Corinthians 14:5 emphasizes the importance of  prophecy to the New Testament body of believers (past &present). 

But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
